Heart of the Matter 3

Jason cranked some jokes. Although, those jokes were corny, Elizabeth can't seem to contain her laughters.

Suddenly, Jason's phone rang. He canceled the call, but after a few minutes, it rang again. He was about to cancel the call, but Elizabeth stopped him.

"It's okay. Just take it. It might be very important," she said.

"Thank you. I'll make this quick," Jason murmured.

He stood up and went out before the answered the phone, which rang for the third time. He looked at the screen and sighed.

"Hello," he greeted in a monotonous tone. It was Blair on the other line and he seemed uninterested to take any calls at the moment, since he's in the middle of something.

"Hi!" Blair greet enthusiastically, "how was your date?"

"It's doing great. We're HAVING fun right now," he answered, trying to emphasize that he was busy doing something.

"Oh! I'm sorry," Blair realized her mistake for calling.

"Alright. What is it?" he asked.

"Well, I was wondering if I could sleep over tonight?" she asked, innocently.

"What?" Jason freaked out.

"Well, I can't stay at home. Dad's friends are in the house and they're having some kind of a party. I'm having a hard time studying my Algebra lessons. Final exam is fast approaching. Besides, it's not the first time I'll be sleeping over," she said in a very pleading voice.

"Oh my! Not tonight, Blair. I have other plans," he said defensively.

"You're not gonna bring her home, are you?" she asked.

"W-what? Heck no!" he said.

"Well, there's nothing wrong then if I'm gonna sleep over, right?"

"Fine. I'll send mom a message about YOUR plans."

"Oh no, it's okay. I'm already here in your bedroom. She's probably asleep now, so no need to bother her. Enjoy the rest of the day, bye!" she hang up.

Jason wasn't able to do anything but sighed. He went back inside the restaurant where Elizabeth was patiently waiting for him.

"It was my best friend Blair. You should meet her one of these days," he told her.

"Wow! That's cool. You have a girl best friend. I'm excited to meet her," she exclaimed.
